• Question: what inspired you to become a scientist?

      I think I wanted to be a researcher (scientist) because its a very important job for improving the world for everyone to live in – everything that we know and have in the modern world was created by people doing ‘science’ – and look at all the amazing things we have now, like mobile phones and internet – we didnt have those when I was little!

    I grew up watching the Apollo moon shots, a very exciting time. At school, I was also being told about great explorers – Richard Burton, Shackleton and the rest. It stirred my imagination and I wanted to become an explorer. The closest job to that was a geologist.
