The sky is blue because of our atmosphere – molecules in the air scatter blue light from the sun which makes the sky look blue. At night there isnt the direct light from the sun anymore and the sky appears black. Its the same sort of thing in space – there isnt enough light from stars to scatter and make space any other colour – its actually much more complicated than that but thats my understanding!

It’s all because of the way sunlight plays with the atmosphere. Red light goes through the sky but the blue light is scattered and this is what hits our eyes and it’s what we see.

It is because of light dispersion due to dust and other small physical particles. They bounce the lower frequency light around. The lowest frequency is blue, so we see lots of blue.
