There are different types of ‘thinking’, when we are waiting for something, maybe lying in bed or sitting in a lesson and our minds wander, we have this chatter that goes on and you notice millions of little thoughts. This is just part of being human and affects everyone. When you are busy and engaged in an activity – if you are concentrating on something – maybe something in school, or watching a film, or doing an activity you enjoy like swimming or dancing, then you might notice that you dont have those little thoughts racing around your head.

Some people try to practice focusing their minds to prevent the thoughts that race around. One type of activity is called mindfulness, where people try to focus on the moment they are in – how it feels to breath in and out, what they can hear, what they can smell, how warm or cold they are – being aware of ‘the moment’ distracts us from all that chatter in our minds and can help people to relax and feel more at peace – give it a try one day if you find your mind racing with thoughts!
