I don’t know a lot about this but I believe it works due to sound waves. So once sound waves travels down our ear and hits the ear drum, it causes it to vibrate and allows our inner ear to convert these vibrations to meaningful words or sounds that we know (like music). This means that the ear drum plays a very important role to allow us to hear.
