This is a very good question. I think it all depends on the person themselves – some people may react more than other people, and other people might react less. But, I do think taste buds is one of the reasons why it causes people to react, like you said throwing up.
It’s possible, but its most likely your brain remembering that you have eaten something before that has made you feel ill. Imagine you eat an undercooked chicken drumstick that gives you food poisoning and makes you very sick, your brain will remember that and might think all chicken drumsticks will make you sick. The next time you taste (or even smell) a chicken drumstick, you might feel instinctively ill. It’s not exactly your tastebuds making you feel ill, but they’re telling your brain that you’ve eaten this before

That has happened to me before.Every time I go near beetroot or even smell it I outomatically feel sick (like you said)

It is also possibly caused by stress.
