Yes I did, and in my job now I work closely with medical doctors all the time, but what I was really excited by was the idea of doing the research which gives doctors the tools they need to treat people, finding new things, understanding how the body works better so that new treatments can be developed, being at the cutting edge! In honestly I also didnt think I would like the life of a junior doctor working long nighttime and weekend shifts – I like to spend a lot of time with my family and doing my job means I get all my evenings and weekends to spent time with them.
Yes I did! I wasn’t sure though I’d be good at being in contact directly with people. Thought if I could make people better indirectly, using more maths and science rather than loads of knowledge of illnesses and what might be wrong with people I might be actually better at that and find it more fun.
